The Model Railway Index! Most indexes start with recent issues and work backwards.
This one is different - we've started with the oldest and are slowly working our way forward!
The current index is a simple spreadsheet, starting with the earliest issues of the 'Railway Modeller'.
I have tried to antcipate what fellow modellers might be looking for. For instance, the index shows both scale and track gauge (and there is an article headed OO buildings - I think not, but we keep to what appeared in the actual magazine, rather than what should have appeared).
I also show where an article has a clear era, such as Pre-Grouping or BR Steam, and also we give guidance on any railway company themes. So 'Hungerford' is shown as GWR and Grouping.
You may want to track articles by a particular author. Maybe we will ultimately find out how many articles David Jenkinson has REALLY written since the original EM Marthwaite appeared in the 'Railway Modeller' - incidentally, one of the very first RM articles I ever read, and one that influenced all my own subsequent modelling.
